THE CRISIS
There is a crisis coming of which the world has never seen the likes of before. In the coming years, there will be more orphaned children than the world has ever seen.
Whether it is child labor, sexual exploitation, children-of-war, the girl child, the HIV/AIDS orphan, the impoverished child, today the world boasts the more children facing more horrific risks than in all of history.
Discover The Journey exists to inspire this generation to rise up and save the next. Our goal is to expose the world to the coming crisis and fervently prepare peoples hearts to desire to holistically care for these children. We want to do this by inspiring an army of people and equipping them to do so, starting first with knowledge communicated most effectively through media. Since this is a problem of global proportions, we believe we need to present it with a global perspective. Our main form of communication to foster this inspiration is media gathered from all parts of the globe.
Our world has never seen a problem this size. In light of this, we feel our generation will desire to step into something larger than they themselves, requiring more action, faith, risk and commitment than ever before, to begin to tackle this problem.
We pray that Discover the Journey will change the lives of thousands of children and voiceless people around the world, but also that it will also change the lives of thousands of youth and adults alike in the developed world, by causing a massive shift in our culture. As we step out to heal their lands, we pray that our land will be healed and that the focus falls simply on Christ.
As Discover The Journey grows, we hope to increase our efforts both in the industrialized world and the developing world. The needs of the developing world are prevalent and obvious in most cases. In many ways though, we see that the truest forms of poverty lie within the hearts of those in the western world. As we invite people to step into the process of caring for the oppressed and the poor through documentaries, we know that hearts here in the west will also be transformed. We know because we were transformed in this way. Christ called his servants into service before they fully even understood who He was. We too desire to draw people into His service and allow His mystery to transform the hearts of the served and the servants. People do not act unless they know. These documentaries are invitations into the service of Jesus as he is found in the least of these in our world.
The stories you have seen and will witness of injustice and brokenness are components of a mosaic so infinite in its scope and diversity, no person can completely fathom, much less solve, its mystery.
But we believe we are to enter in. This might sound vague or intangible, but we think it is actually very practical, clear, and irresistibly urgent. We are not spectators, but participators, despite geography, race, class or gender. And whether we want to be or not, or are even conscious of the many mini narratives of those who suffer, we are implicit by our action or inaction.
The story we want to challenge you and ourselves to enter boasts a scope so immense, the dilation of the vision it encompasses so grand, that we do not want to even try to explain it ourselves.
Instead, we ask you to open your mind and heart, and enter in. Things just might become clearer as the road narrows.
